The Kia Rio is a subcompact car that is inexpensive, stylish, and spacious. It delivers sprightly performance, great fuel economy and agile handling.
The Kia Rio is front-wheel drive with independent front suspension, a semi-independent rear suspension, 14-inch wheels on the Base and LX trims, and 16-inch on the SX trim. It's powered by a 110-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder with continuously variable valve timing. Transmission choices include a standard five-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic (excluding the base trim). Safety features include seat-mounted side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags and front seat belt pretensioners, a tire pressure monitoring system, and active front headrests.
The Rio has a substantially revised appearance for 2010. Full body-color bumpers, a new grille, and headlamps, are the most notable changes.

The black-plastic trapezoidal mesh grille residing betwixt the angular headlamps looks serious. Directly below, the tall bumper with black plastic whiskers protruding on either side adds a sense of aggressiveness. -- Car and Driver
The dash is well dressed, with simple, pleasantly arranged controls in the center stack. Contrasting materials and touches like dual powerpoints convey a more upscale flavor than expected--an impression supported by the tight component fit. -- Motor Trend
